A day after the brand new White Home press secretary told reporters she was not sure if President Biden had confidence in FBI Director Christopher Wray, Jen Psaki circled again with an unequivocal response.
“I precipitated an unintentional ripple yesterday so wished to state very clearly President Biden intends to maintain FBI Director Wray on in his position and he has confidence within the job he’s doing,” Psaki wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Former President Trump appointed Wray to a 10-year time period in 2017 after firing then-FBI Director James Comey, a transfer that prompted the appointment of Robert Mueller as particular counsel.
Wray and Trump had a rocky relationship as a result of the FBI director refused to hawk unfounded claims about widespread fraud within the election. Wray additionally denied the Mueller probe was a “witch hunt,” as Trump usually claimed.
Biden has pledged to revive religion within the Justice Division’s independence.
